The museum is housed in the Palazzo dell'Archivio and del Consiglio since 1870 and is divided into the Medieval and Modern section and the Archaeological section, both constituted by materials coming from Torcello itself or from the estuary islands. The Medieval and Modern section houses pictures, marbles and paintings dating from the VI century AD to XVII century AD. The archaeological section collects Etruscan and Roman ceramics, Roman marbles and paleo-Veneti bronzes dating from XVII century BC to V century AD. Very important is golden silver altarpiece dating to the first half of XIII century.
